Introducing Myself

Brooke Aleesha Roy

Hey there! I'm Brooke and I self identify as a donut connoisseur. If you were to ask my family or friends, I think they could all agree that donuts are one of my love languages. I wholeheartedly believe in quality over quantity. Entering into the world of boujee pastries has entailed day trips, ordering ahead online, and even skipping out on that precious Saturday sleep in, all to get a taste before they are sold out. Just seeing these decadent creations, perhaps a maple glaze with bacon or one dusted in matcha with a passionfruit filling, never fails to bubble up a genuine smile. Simply put, I'm a lover of our fried friends that may be twisted or filled, glazed or gooey, but always soft and sweet.

I grew up on Vancouver Island which is on the West Coast of Canada. I have two older brothers, so by default, I am the baby of the family. We had a childhood dog named Scalliwags, and if that doesn't shine a light on the lighthearted nature of my family, I'm not sure what will. Our parents cultivated a culture of love in our home. They made it their mission to raise us knowing that no matter what choices we would make in our lives, our worth could not be shaken. Having a deep understanding that my worth is found in my identity, and not my failures or successes is what has freed me to walk out my purpose. It's been out of this love that I have for my family, and God's heart, that I grew a deeper love for others. In 2020, I made the move to Australia where I have been learning to lean into the unknowns, while fully trusting that I am held by Grace.

If you know a thing or two about personality typologies, I classify as an ISFJ-T (Myers-Briggs) and a 2w1 (Enneagram).

About: About

YWAM Broome

YWAM Broome was established in September 2020. I moved with nine others to a town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. We are all full-time volunteers with different backgrounds, skill sets, and passions. We share one desire which is to see lives transformed through knowing God. I believe in the vision of this non-profit organization and the way that they serve and support others in a culturally appropriate manner. Over the years, I hope to continue supporting the work of this base.
